Do you want to know about one of my favorite patterns? It’s perfect and it comes with so many options! Did I say it’s free? Well, let me say it again. It’s free. It’s one of the most adorable dresses you have ever seen by the wonderful Little Lizard King. I am not done, it is not only available for girls but also for women. Yeah!

A free dress pattern with an adult version it’s already worth checking out, but this one is extra especial! It is not only a dress you can also make a top with long or short sleeves! This project requires knit fabrics, so if you need help or some tips to get started with knit fabrics check out this blog post.

Truly, for me, learning to sew with knits was the best decision I’ve ever made (regarding sewing!).

My first Galena dress was a matching set for my girls. The dress is wonderful. The skirt has the perfect drape and the sleeves are just so cute. For this dress I bought the modern jersey fabric from Spoonflower with one of my designs (Moshito Design), Shapes in rows, inspired by the shapes my girls and I used to draw together.

But you can also make tops! This pattern is super fast and easy. Don’t be intimidated by the sleeves because the instructions will guide you through every step of the way. This was my first time making puffy sleeves and it was doable! So much, that last summer I made them matching tops!

The modern Jersey fabric from Spoonflower is one of my favorite knit fabrics. It is definitely for warm weather.

But it’s perfect for traveling because it dries super quickly and it DOESN’T wrinkle! It is breathable and flowy, which we love!

Cutest hedgehogs and mushrooms

My little one was in love with baby hedgehogs for a while, so I made this watercolor design for her.

You can find it for your little one here.

So, fast forward to this summer when we were frantically packing for our international move! That’s my excuse for only making one more Galena top before my sewing machine was packed away…

My oldest requested a top with my Hidden Treasure Fabric collection. These days she is not into dresses, so a flowy top for this lady!

Little friends Moshito desing Hidden Treasures

Little did I know before having children that by age two they were going to be so opinionated about fashion and clothing. So, if at 2 years old she knew exactly what she liked, these days… well, she extremely clear about her preferences.

So far, she still enjoys my handmade clothes, but I am waiting for the day where… well, my brand won’t do for her… :)

In case you are wondering, our international move this summer has us living now in Nairobi, Kenia. It’s warm and sunny so I can’t wait for my sewing machine to arrive to continue making more Galena tops and dresses.

If you would like to give it a try you can find the free Galena pattern from Little Lizard King here.

You are welcome!

If you love sewing as much as I do, don’t hesitate to reach out I love talking all things about fabric and ‘meet’ fellow seamstresses from all around the world!

Thanks for reading and happy sewing!
